You asking ME? wasn't my idea.

As you may have noticed, the extra column is now there ('Total Views').

Just a thought: this forum engine supports avatars, why not enable using them? They help to identify the people behind their usernames & posts.

I am not sure that the PHPbb base structure allows for such a listing of topics inside forums. That either needs a PHPbb mod (ie. a modification made for PHPbb which needs to be uploaded and installed into the forum's core program) or some deep tweaking of the PHPbb code itself. And I would not advise the latter to anyone not perfect in PHP.

I think the base PHP programming should be left as it is for the time being, and see how it works in itself. To jump in and start pestering the core program would not be worth it at this stage in my humble opinion.

Sorry, I got it now. I didn't write the program, but I'll do my best. You mean you want to see the big total of the 'views' values of the topics within one forum?

You are right, but it would be nice if one could set this option forever in one's profile... See what I can do...

dodo, szigetva beat me to the punch as regards "views." Concerning the other issue, if you want to view the newest post first, you should choose the “Newest First” option. Cool?

For one thing, this is not possible in the forum index, since view counts are for topics, not forums. For another, this column is there once you enter the forum and see its topics list.

Hi.

Up to now, quite a few topics have been created, but if one enters the SEAS Forum Index there's no indication of the topics in the 'big' forums (e.g. exams). It'd be great if we could see the topics right on the SEAS Forum Index page, and we could enter a topic directly from there. This could make our navigation much faster and more effective.

In my opinion, to save space, only the last 5 topics should be indicated in every forum. This is how I imagine a forum and its topics should look like on the SEAS Forum Index page. :

Exams
-History of English exam
-AN(N) 299
-past papers
-future papers

Thanx. 8)

Also, one more comment. I think it'd be better if i could read the newest posts first.
So page 2 would be on the screen and i could check page 1 if i wanted to.

this is getting funny :)

I meant that it'd great if i saw how many people have viewed the topic.
So there is the list of topics and there should be a column that says "views". So that we'd know how many people have clicked on it before us.
It would be useful for the ones (me for example) who post a topic. We could have an idea about how many people read it.
I hope I could make it clear this time. :)
Thank you in advance
Dodo
