Very well, that's exactly what I was thinking of.

Hello, can I do that I start to study on American Studies but I still want to keep the British way of spelling I had already got used to? I wouldn't abandon what I got accustomed to just for the favour of the course I took. I was afraid to ask this personally during the conference for the simple reason I could easily switch from British to American spelling provided I pay attention to. But I still want to know if this is an obstacle to my studies or not.

Thanks in advance.

This has been an issue before already - the advice I got: be consistent whichever spelling you use, i.e. don't mix British and American spelling in papers, use British if you wish, but then stick with it!
