There will be only one date for the 299 written exam: 9th January 2007 (12:00).

You may wish to read about the whys of this decision:

Good luck! :)

You may wish to ask the department. The date should be available, but some negotiations are still going on. But they will surely know whether there's one or two dates. (My bet is one.)

Does anyone know the expected date of the 299 exam this (2006-2007 autumn) term? Will there be only one exam or more? Are they in December or January?

Oh, sure, I could not register for them, but I planned everything according to the dates (an I have another major as well). Actually British history 1. could have been the problem, since I definitely cannot go on 12th Dec, therefore 2nd Jan (it's also a nice date, isn't it?:-) ) is the only date I can go and I was afraid 299 will be then. Nice long explanation... So, 19th Dec remained after all. (Sorry for Sara, anyway.)

sorry for you.

We've been to the people responsible for coordinating exam dates and it turned out that there is not a single day left during the first two weeks in January when the required number of rooms could be issued.

Thus the 299 exam will be held on the 19th of December as announced.

Should the exam be in January, then Sara's problem might get solved but a bunch of people will have one instead for the date will probably clash with other exam dates.
If the Department is not able to give two alternative dates then it better should not do anything.

Wouldn't it be better anyway if the exam is early in the exam period and this way one has more time to learn for other exams in January?

I also hope that this solution will solve most problems.

As for the TVSz, I have to admit that I haven't been thorough enough when reading up on the regulations.

Quote:
ETVSz 50. §
(...)
(2) (...) A vizsgaidőszakban történő írásbeli vizsgára legalább két alkalmat kell biztosítani (...)
(...)

Quote:
ETVSz 48. §
(...)
(4) Kollokvium lehet
a) szóbeli vizsga
b) írásbeli vizsga
c) "A" típusú kombinált vizsga, amikor a vizsga írásbeli és szóbeli részből áll és a kollokvium eredményét a tantervben rögzített módon a két rész eredménye alapján állapítják meg, azonban a sikeres teljesítés feltétele mindkét rész sikeres teljesítése;
(...)

According to the above, ANN-199 and ANN-299 are both "A-type combined exams" and therefore nothing is said about the number of exam dates.

Fresh news from http://seas3.elte.hu/seas/administrative/documents/minutes051108.html

Az Angol--Amerikai Intézet 2005. november 8-i értekezletének jegyzõkönyve wrote:

This hopefully solves Sara's problem. A nice compromise solution. And note this fine rebuttal of our legal reasoning:

Our problem with a single exam date was not that there is no retake. You can offer 2 dates and specify that the second one is not a retake. I find your arguments on the financial-organizational difficulties of a second date quite convincing though.

more to say, it is stated in ETVSz that you cannot retake any lang. exams.
