Guys, you're so funny. I've must have recognised the stuff I guess I've just been to tired to open a topic 4 it. But you must admit it's huge fun. I love these typos, and were laughing my head off when reading in one of my friends' notes on History that

Elizabeth I died without a hare
and
The royal male was introduced.

And I do write things like this when prof. Geher is talking fast:
Shakespeare had a firm opposition in Elizabethan theatre life -- instead of position.

But this makes life interesting, doesn't it?

Easy there, why make a fuss?

have fun

when I'm tired enough, I start writing English words with Hungarian spelling. Horrible to study from such notes, really.

Update number two.

Kerbel Katalin

Apparently SEAS is blamed. Right. We dinnae kann sprechen Englinks.

As far as I got with this, Adam was talking about exams data, not course data. The place of examinations was not given at course announcements. The infamous phrase is not contained in the set of data I sent to the ETR in February. (So I guess Zaka did not get what Adam meant.) But at least we have something to rant about.

címekbe/megjegyzésekbe, tehát a helytelen mondat valószínűleg a tanszék
felől érkezett.
Kerbel Katalin (remélhetőleg) továbbítja a levelet annak, aki javítani
illetékes ezt a hibát.

Üdvözlettel

I highly doubt that anyone from SEAS would commit such a mistake twice.

well, except if s/he copy-pastes the whole stuff to the 2 exams which is quite credible, isn't it. And I don't blame her/him for that.

Actually, when I am tired I make typos like that all the time. Two instead of too etc. Which indicates that what we have in our lexicon are 'sound shapes' and not typographical words.

So try to look at that typo as an illustration of this interesting fact. Maybe ETR/SEAS just wanted to stimulate our linguistic thinking :D

Or, they wanted to send us a secret message: although the use of mobile phones is prohibited in theory, they would let us use them if we keep a low profile (ie we use them silently). So the deciphered message is: No mobile phones are to be used aloud.

Those who take a 199 this semester may want to take a look at the "Vizsgajelentkezés" page on ETR. In the column Location ("Helyszín"), under the actual locations there is a very interesting inscription called "Megjegyzés" with the following text:

Megj.:No mobil phones are aloud to use

Was someone trying to be very funny, or worse, did someone writing rules for SEAS exams actually come up with such something like that?

Adam

P.s.: See it yourself if you don't believe me.

same at the 299 exam. I think, its a misprint.
