Famous Hungarian Immigrants to the U.S.
A Public Presentation

6:30PM, September 27, 2006
American Corner, Pecs
Address: International House/American Corner, Mária u. 9., Pécs 7621

Abstract:

What do William Fox, Joseph Pulitzer, Edward Teller, Harry Houdini, Eugene Ormándy, Andy Grove and Tony Ramone all have in common? They were all born in Hungary and became leaders in their respective fields in the U.S. From the motion picture industry to the development of the atomic bomb, from popular culture to big business, Hungarians who have emigrated to the U.S. have made huge contributions to American society. This presentation gives an overview of a few of the Hungarian-American stars. At the end of the presentation, we will explore the question of why Hungarians, in an American setting, have been so productive, creative and successful.
