This course aims to develop teachers' classroom observation skills to enable them to reflect on a lesson they observe or a lesson they themselves teach, and to prepare them for conducting classroom research on their own. It also aims to help develop the professional language for talking about classroom experiences.
By the end of the course participants will have become familiar with possible purposes of observation, will have designed and tried out various observation tools and have learned how to make informed conclusions from the data these instruments can provide. In phrasing classroom observation results, participants will be able to make a difference between observation, interpretation and judgement and will be able to withhold their judgement when sharing their observation experiences.
