This course is recommended especially for those who already completed courses dealing with problems in Germanic phonology (Old and Middle English). The course will introduce the basic tenets of CV phonology and the ways these can be applied to Old and Middle English, but will have a broader scope as well. We will also examine other Germanic languages (e.g., Old High German).

Regular attendance, end of term essay, problem solving assignments, reading assigned chapters from Tobias Scheer's What is CVCV and why should it be? (De Gruyter, 2012)
