This course is designed to familiarise students with Medieval and Early Modern British literature through a careful reading of some of the core classics of the periods. Highlights will include the anonymous Beowulf and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Chaucer, Marlowe, Marvell, Donne, and Milton. Oh yes, and Shakespeare. There will be quite a bit of Shakespeare.
requirements & assessment
Grades are based on active in-class participation and two home papers (one mid-term, one end-term).
