In this Foundations ... course we will be examining the morphological and distributional properties of English word classes, the methods and tests of how to distinguish between the word categories. The course will be based on the findings and data of traditional descriptive grammars. You are also kindly requested to participate in the lecture courses, which will facilitate your understanding of a fairly difficult subject. The set text consists in chapters from various descriptive English grammars, available in electronic format on the SEAS homepage.
