The course aims to enable participants to grapple with the complex task of translating legal and business EU documents. The translation of sample texts of various sizes will engage students in the various stages and components of the translation process, including the evaluation and analysis of the source text, the rendering of meaning in the target language, the use of specialist terminology, the problems of style and formatting as well as editing the translated text. Participants will also familiarise themselves with key issues of translation theory and the vocabulary of legal and business contexts. The course will be practical in its approach and will include individual as well as groupwork.
