The course focuses on various issues that relate to people working together as a group, on some theoretical underpinnings of group dynamics, as well as on their direct relevance to one’s personal toolkit in interpersonal relationships. The topics of the course include the dynamics and development of small groups, the various roles group members can take, the different behaviour patterns that rule interpersonal relationships, conflict management, decision-making tools, etc. Apart from finding out about the background of the issues above, participants of the course will look into how these are depicted in literature or films and, even more importantly, will be asked to find personal examples and reflect on personal experience in these topics.
requirements & assessment
Course requirements are active participation in the sessions and contribution to the in-class tasks and also the preparation of a course portfolio that summarises the participants’ understanding and reflection on various group-related issues.
