The task at hand for this seminar is to provide students with those indispensable theoretical tools that are to be deployed when composing academic papers, essays, theses on literature. Our schedule will offer a guide through major theoretical schools and trends in literary criticism while showcasing abundant examples of how the respective theories are utilized in interpretations and analyses of well-known, canonical texts. As the title of the seminar implicates, this workshop aims at assisting students to put theory into practice
requirements & assessment
Students will be required to keep up with their weekly reading assignments, raise thought-provoking questions to their peers, give a short presentation, and write a 4-6 pages long essay on a literary piece of their choice utilizing the theoretical framework of one particular critical school.
