description & set texts
‘Special needs education’ means that we have to change our question from ‘What is wrong with the student?’ to ‘What is it like being the student?’ Only then can the next question ‘What can I do to help the student?’ be answered. The aim of this course is to help future teachers of English and/or thesis writers to understand dyslexia not just as an impairment, but as a learner profile both in the wider context of education and the specific context of language learning. We will cover topics regarding dyslexia in general, dyslexia and language learning, and teaching methods facilitating their learning with special attention to the needs of Hungarian dyslexic students.
