The main objective of the course is to train students to understand the basic principles of literary translation as well as the basic technology of creative practice. The workshop requires foe each meeting the presentation of the translated text of a short story, an essay, an excerpt from a novel/play, or some poems produced by a student, edited by another student, and /while thoroughly compared with the original text/ publicly discussed in the classroom. Occasionally the published translation of a master of the trade is subjected to critical investigation. The discussion is conducted in Hungarian.
requirements & assessment
The assignment is one finished translation analysed by the group or submitted at the end of the term.
