The aim of the course is to provide students with preparation for all components of the AN(N)–299 proficiency examination, including the argumentative writing, formal letter writing and oral components. With a view to this aim, students attending the course will
- read newspaper articles which may serve as prompts in the examination (special emphasis will be placed on the lexis in the articles) and compile a portfolio (10 pages’ worth of newspaper articles connected with the topics discussed)
- after the revision of the genres, write three argumentative essays (two as homework assignments and one in-class) and two formal letters
- participate in simulated oral examinations
