BuPhoC is the nickname of the Budapest Phonology Circle and Linguistics Discussion Group. It was conceived by senior phonologists of the English Linguistics Department (Dept of English Language and Literature in those days) — Ádám Nádasdy, Miklós Törkenczy, László Varga — on the initiative of Christopher Piñón in 1990. BuPhoC has served as a forum for phonologists and other linguists, teachers and students, of DELG and of other departments ever since. BuPhoC sessions traditionally take place about once a month at 5PM on a Wednesday.
